Well, here’s your chance to turn back the clock to the 1980’s and 1990’s when Athena was one of the dominant clubs in WA with multiple success in the State League and various cup competitions.
Purchase a ticket to the Football Hall of Fame WA’s 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner (to be held at the spectacular Riverview Room at Optus Stadium on Saturday, November 14), and you can be on hand to salute some of Athena’s superstars from that era.
FIVE former Athena players, including some of the club’s greatest goalscorers and most influential performers, will be inducted into WA football’s exclusive Hall of Fame.
They will be joining an already impressive line-up of some of WA’s biggest international, national and local stars who have been honoured since Western Australia became the first State in Australia to celebrate the achievements of players, coaches, administrators and others when the Football Hall of Fame was established in 1996.
And this year’s 30th Anniversary gathering promises to be a memorable occasion with the Athena Five being among a total of 35 being embraced for inclusion into one of the four categories: the Hall of Champions, Hall of Merit, Hall of Recognition and Hall of Legends.
Adding to the excitement of the night, there will also be live entertainment and special guest speakers who will give an insight into some of the aspects of the game at international level.
Plus, there will be the opportunity to rub shoulders with several former star players from Perth Glory’s early glorious days. It will also be the perfect opportunity to network with many important figures from the wider WA football community.
Tickets cost $180. This will include a sumptuous meal, plus beverages, and a special collectors-item souvenir booklet. The event starts at 6pm.
