Andrew Gorton, known to most as Andy Gorton, is well remembered in the Perth football community as one of the original founders of Armadale Soccer Club, an oustanding referee and having a cutting edge sense of humour. Andy passed Thursday August 20, 2026.

From the Armadale Soccer Club Facebook Page: ‘Widely respected throughout Western Australia, Andy became one of the State’s most accomplished referees, officiating at the highest levels of football and earning recognition through his induction into the Football Hall of Fame’s Hall of Recogntition in 2012. His service and contribution to football left a lasting legacy that extended well beyond our club.
Andy’s passion, commitment and dedication to Armadale Soccer Club and football in Western Australia will never be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Andy’s family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.

Andy’s funeral Monday, September 7 was attended by over 200 friends, colleagues and family members at the Fremantle Cemetary’s West Chapel.
