Welcoming Our Inaugural Life Members

The Football Hall of Fame WA is delighted to confirm its inaugural Life Members. Football historian and author Richard Kreider, journalist Mel Moffatt and former national league referee Louis Prospero were granted Life Membership earlier in the year in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the volunteer-driven organisation.

Richard’s contribution to the Committee of the Hall of Fame spanned 18 years (2002-2020). His high-quality research was integral in the assessment of over 150 individuals who gained induction into the Hall of Fame. Richard also published three books on West Australian football history, including the almost 800 page ‘Paddocks to Pitches’ in 2012.

Mel dedicated himself to championing football in Western Australia for over 40 years, 18 of which were with the Hall of Fame Committee (2002-2020). A specialist football journalist with the West Australian newspaper, his in-depth knowledge of the local game was called upon for five Induction and four Anniversary events. Additionally, Mel managed the Fame Game newsletter and wrote extensively for the Hall of Fame website.

Louis was Chairman of the Hall of Fame between 2002 and 2020 and in 2023 re-joined the Executive Committee, where he is currently President. An active participant in the day-to-day operations of the organisation, he was instrumental in the Hall of Fame becoming an incorporated association and played a key role in the areas of stakeholder engagement and sponsorship for numerous events.

Life Membership recognises individuals that have served on the Football Hall of Fame WA Committee, or a sub-committee, for a minimum of 10 years. The Football Hall of Fame WA is eternally grateful for the contributions made by Richard, Mel and Louis.
